The Wastewater Quality Upgrade Project Aims to Raise the Standard from Class A to Class IV Surface Water Quality

The project is located at the confluence of the Gaowang River and the Yangtze River in Yumin Xincun, Qiaolin Street, Pukou District, Nanjing City. The first phase of the wastewater treatment plant has a capacity of 50,000 tons/day, with a stage-one capacity of 25,000 tons/day. The effluent quality standard is Class A of the "Discharge Standard of Pollutants for Urban Wastewater Treatment Plants" (GB18918-2002).

 According to the "Pukou District Urban and Rural Water Affairs Construction Plan," the Provincial Water Resources Bureau rrequires the completion of the water quality upgrading and transformation of the Pukou Economic Development Zone Wastewater Treatment Plant. The upgrade requires raising the effluent quality standard from Class A to Class IV surface water quality. After further treatment in a stabilization pond, the upgraded effluent will be discharged into the Gaowang River and then flow into the Yangtze River.

The main contents of the Phase I, Stage 1 Water Quality Improvement and Renovation Project of the Pukou Development Zone Wastewater Treatment Plant include: adding an MBBR biomembrane system to the original A2/O water tank, constructing a new denitrification deep-bed filter and an ozone contact oxidation tank; the project has a treatment capacity of 25,000 tons/day, and the first stage was undertaken by Jiuwu Hi-Tech for the upgrading and renovation. After the renovation, the effluent water quality standard has been improved from Class A to Class IV surface water standard. The annual input of NN3-N into the Gaowang River from the wastewater treatment plant reduced by 31.9 tons, and CODCr reduced by 182.5 tons, which helped alleviate the pollution burden on the Gaowang River and improve the compliance rate of national/provincial monitoring sections.

 Following the successful delivery of the first stage, Jiuwu Hi-Tech also participated in the Phase I, Stage 2 construction project of the denitrification deep-bed filter and ozone process package (25,000 tons/day). The project is currently operating stably and has been recognized by the client.

Jiuwu Hi-Tech's Deep Bed Denitrification Filter Technology Advantages

● The deep bed denitrification filter integrates biological denitrification, physical filtration, and micro-flocculation phosphorus removal, simultaneously ensuring stable compliance with TN, SS, and TP standards, with effluent TN ≤ 3–5 mg/L and SS ≤ 5 mg/L. It requires no separate structures, significantly saves land and investment, making it particularly suitable for upgrading wastewater treatment plants.

● The denitrification efficiency of this technology exceeds 90%, and the attached biomembrane in the filter has strong stability. It can still operate stably at low temperatures in winter and can flexibly switch filtration modes according to water quality;

● Outstanding operational economy. Backwash water volume is only 2%–4%, filter media requires no maintenance for its lifetime, carbon source addition is precise and low-consumption, and the high degree of automation simplifies operation and maintenance. The deep bed structure has strong impact resistance, and the modular design adapts to various new and renovation projects.


Core Advantages of Ozone Water Treatment Technology

● Ozone oxidation has strong oxidation abilities and rapid reaction, offering broad-spectrum and efficient sterilization. It can quickly kill bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms, without drug resistance and disinfection dead corners;

● In advanced treatment, ozone efficiently decolorizes and deodorizes, oxidizes and decomposes recalcitrant COD, improves the biodegradability of wastewater, and does not produce disinfection byproducts such as chloroform, resulting in no secondary pollution.

● As a green and clean process, ozone uses air or oxygen as raw material, decomposing to generate oxygen, increasing dissolved oxygen in the water, leaving no residue or sludge, and eliminating the need for subsequent dechlorination.

● The system is compact, occupies a small area, and has a high degree of automation. It can be used independently or in combination with BAF (Body-Based Air Filter), filters, etc., with strong adaptability.
